Question “How is the narrative of a time when nature and human were whole preserved, experienced, and passed down through living today?” Within the framework of preserving cultural, historical, and geographical relations from a nature-centric perspective, how should a relationship be established with this “place” as an awareness center and space of experience? Since the 19th century, cultural history and conservation theories have developed various approaches to preservation and restoration through different readings, such as monumental value, artistic value, historical value, commemorative value, and age-value. Today, conservation continues on a controversial ground built upon the questions of “What, why, and for what purpose are we conserving?” What does conservation mean today in this area where the integrated relationship between nature and human is no longer sustained, where original production processes formed by the filtering of thousands of years of accumulated knowledge (wind–mill–miller–wheat–corn–grinding) have ceased, and objects have yielded themselves to time? In a time period where Bodrum has largely exceeded its threshold of construction, environmental destruction is steadily increasing, and humans complain about one another, these questions gain even greater meaning for this place.

Researchment

To return what belongs to nature to nature; to transform humans from mere users into observers; to follow the path of time shaped by natural and social cycles, transforming the knowledge of the past into the awareness of the present, and to envision new possibilities for tomorrow…
